M. Phil. (Computer Science)

The M.Phil. (Computer Science) course admission took place at the Department of Computer Science after declaration of the result of the Ph.D Entrance Test (PET) which is conducted by the University of Mumbai. The intake capacity of the Department is 15 students. However, 2 foreign students (15% of intake) and 2 students from Jammu & Kashmir can be admitted in addition to the intake capacity. The reservation policy is to be followed as per the Government Resolutions.

Eligibility: - As per VCD No. Exam/Thesis/Univ./VCD/2414 of 2010. Please refer the relevant University Circular No. 441 of 2005, for O.5473 and O.5476

Candidates appearing for Sem-III/IV of the post-graduate programmes under CBGS or for Part-II of the post-graduate programmes under old course may be allowed to appears for PET. However, their PET results shall be valid only after successfully clearing the post-graduate programmes (with 55% marks for general category students and 50% marks for reserved category students)

The candidates can download the Application Form for the said Entrance Test from the University website and submit in duplicate alongwith the attested photocopy of previous educational qualification and work experience certificates (if any) to the Room No.129, First Floor, Thesis Section, Fort Campus of the University on or before the date mentioned in the Notification.

A Demand Draft in the name of 'Finance & Accounts Officer' of the University of Mumbai or in cash of Rs.1000/- for General Category and Rs.500/- for Reserved Category, is enclosed with the Application form.

Syllabus for the Entrance Test: - The syllabus for PET in a given subject shall be the various topics in the Compulsory/Core subjects/papers for the Post Graduate Degree Level Programme of the University of Mumbai for that subject

Mode of Selection

After qualifying the PET Examination the Department conduct the Interview. The qualifying student of PET and the student who taken exemption from PET are required to fill the Application form for Interview of Ph.D./M.Phil. Admission within 15 days from the declaration of the PET result. The Department will decide the date of the interview subject to the availability of the seats.

If the seats reserved for students outside the University remain vacant, the students of the University may be admitted from the waiting list in such vacant seats or if the seats reserved for students of the University remain vacant, the students from other Universities, within the state of Maharashtra from the waiting list, may be admitted in such vacant seats.

For International Students, 15% quota in addition to the sanctioned intake of seats has been granted vide University circular no. Aff./Recog.I/232 of 2011 dated 30th July, 2011.  Intake-15 Students * 15% = 2 Foreign Students

The provision of 2 (two) supernumerary seats for students from Jammu & Kashmir are made vide University circular no. Aff./ICC/2012-13/22 dated 8th January, 2013.
